July 30 – Foggy Bay

New Eddystone Rock enroute to Foggy Bay

Deer Crossing the Isthmus
Scary but Beautiful
Lifting Anchor in Foggy Bay
Its a deceiving bay as it's a favorite stop for boaters getting out of weather on their crossing from Rupert to Ketchikan or a weather waiting stop for those of crossing back into Canada. It does not appear to be all that sheltered from Winds and swells as it is quite open. We opt to go into the "Inner Foggy Bay" and a low tide, it seemingly offers good shelter from the winds outside the bay. At high tide that night, the Isthmus that protects the bay is well under water and does indeed let the swells in from the West. Not uncomfortable, but enough to spill your drink!

Wayne, Cathy, Dave and Penny all go for a gunkhole while we stay neatly tucked in our boat, catching up on some reading and watching some old movies. A pretty lazy day, but nice! A deer crosses the isthmus in the morning and it makes for a pretty photograph.
