July 28th – Rudyard Bay

Our Boats in Rudyard
Punchbowl Lake
Skiff for use on Punchbowl Lake
Beaver Construction Zone
Boardwalk up to the lake
We luck out and find another mooring buoy. We are getting pretty spoiled by not having to drop our anchors and get them muddy and wet! The gigantic mountains are all around us and we are well protected from the nasty winds outside. Its blowing (apparently) "Storm Force" which is a mere 40 - 50 knots outside. We barely feel a ripple in our protected inlet. The rain is out full force today, so its a good card day and Betty manages to watch the last of Season 2 Grey's Anatomy.

Dave takes a hike up to Punchbowl Lake with Scupper and chats with the kayakers that are camped at the base of the trail. Certainly yucky weather for kayakers in a tent! A very muddy Dave and Scupper make it up and back within 3 hours (pretty good for an old geezer!)
We feel very small up against the sheer rock mountains and it sure a nice way to end one of our last ports in Alaska.
