All the members of the flotilla are enjoying the rest
Mike and Bob return from a successful fishing trip
Cruise Ship heading South
Our flotilla anchored in the bay
4:30 am comes early when you were up late, having a good time with your fellow travelers! Admiral Thompson sleeps in (tsk...tsk) and our departure is slightly delayed. Around 5:00 am we depart. We are greeted by a pair of humpback whales as we leave our anchorage, goes just great with your morning coffee. The sky is a bit overcast but there is no wind, or is it just dark still?. The ocean is very calm but here is a long and low ocean swell as we continue our trek north. Its gentle unti we get to Rivers Inlet and then it sort of acts like a washing machine, with waves coming in every direction. We suspect it’s just tidal action combined with the swell. It’s not hair raising, just slightly uncomfortable! Ladner Lass swore that they were putting their stablizers down to make for a smoother ride. There ar e a few parts to the "fish" (stabilizers), poles, fish (weights for the end of the poles) and a myriad of lines. Unbeknownst to the group, when the stabilizers were to be deployed, the fish part were not attached. Good thing he didn’t just throw them overboard! It would have been an expensive toss! Ladner Lass ended up doing the crossing just like the rest of!
By the time we arrive at Fury Cove, the sun is a blazing and it’s time to put the sunblock and shorts on! The boys go fishing and the rest of laze around, nap and go gunkholing around the area. This is truly one of our favourite stops and this bay marks the start of fairly flat, safe passage north, it’s all inside from here until Dixon entrance (Prince Rupert). There is a tradition if the weather permits that we have an barbeque and fresh French fries on the beach. The beach is white and sandy and we were lucky to see and hear humpbacks on the other side of our bay. Salmon, Chicken, corn on the cob and fresh cut French fries were had on an open fire on the beach. Does it get any better???
We had to anchor seperately in here because the bay had a lot of boats in it. All fellow travellers heading north.
