The bustling metropolis of Meyers Chuck
The Sunsets here around 10:30 - 11:00 pm
Quarter anyone?
Another beautiful sunny day with a light northwest wind and slight chop on the water. Its no wonder Kasaan Bay has no fish (salmon) left, there is a pod of approximately 6 Orca cruising back and forth the in the inlet the entire time we are in there. This resident pod must have cleaned out the bay of any type of salmon and feed fish to keep themselves going! We see them in front of the docks when we wake up and they are slightly ahead of us almost all the way out of the inlet.
Nice four hour cruise to Meyers Chuck. A little artists’ colony of sorts with a little art gallery and some gift type items for sale. A nice quiet settled dock with a iller view of Clarence Strait. While there some of us purchase the book “The Fishes and Dishes” Cookbook. What a great read! It’s written by three ladies and a few other co-authors and is a mix of recipes and stories of the ladies that crab and fish in the Bering Strait and other areas of Alaska. Kiyo and Tomi Marsh and Laura Cooper. Look it up and purchase it – it’s a great read and has some great recipes in it.
