Monday June 29 - Pender Harbour - Powell River

The Big City of Powell River

A good nights sleep and the memories of yesterday are all but gone. Mike has firmly bolted the fridge in place, I now have latches on both the top and bottom of the fridge (no more flying Ice!) - the dinghy will now be lashed down even if its a sunny, calm day! All the salt has been washed away and we had a nice visit and good food at the pub with the inlaws.
There are very few boats in Pender both at anchor and at other docks, has the wind kept everyone down south? or is the economy and fuel pricing keeping everyone close to home? Time will tell as we move northward. The wind is still blowing in Malaspina Strait, but we take the dinghy for an exploratory run and decide at 3:00 pm to head up to Powell River. Turns out that the only chop is again around Stillwater, the closer to Powell we get, the calmer the seas. We have a nice dinner with my sister and my cousin and are securely tied up to the Government dock. The wind blows strong all night and we are gently rocked to sleep.
