July 5th – Juneau

I get up early and walk with my mountain of dirty clothes up to the Laundromat (by wheelbarrow) so that the boat is tidy and clean prior to our guests coming on board. We manage to rent a van later in the morning to do some shopping, sightseeing and loading of groceries and Booze ( heavy but essential). The town of Juneau is as I remember it, full of tourist stores to cater to the cruise ship passengers, 4 cruise ships in port and lots of people much like ourselves, milling around with cameras strung around their necks! We have lunch at the Hanger Bar and head out to Costco and back to the marina to pick up Gayle and CJ. We all pile in the van and head up to Mendanhall Glacier. This glacier can be seen when you arrive by plane or boat into the Juneau area. It’s pretty impressive and they have done a nice job of having an interpretive center and walking trails close to the glacier. We get caught up with news from home, a nice dinner on Ocean Aire and off to bed as we have another one of those 5:00 am departures to get to our next stop.
