Mendanall Glacier Up Close and Personal
We arrived in Juneau or rather "Auke Bay" which is around the corner from Juneau late in the day. It is the preferred harbour for the "Yachties" as it is close to Costco, shopping and the airport is only 3 miles away. Our son CJ and sister-in-law arrive tommorrow afternoon to spend some time with us from Juneau to Wrangell and other tasty stop overs. Will try and update prior to leaving Juneau as our next two stops are without phone or internet. Tracy Arm and Endicott (aka Fords Terror) is on the schedule to meet up with Bean & Scott in Wrangell.
A great stock up place with stores such as Costco, Fred Meyers, Safeway (with a kick ass liquor store!) and Walmart. We rented a van so that all of us could re-provision in one go. We drove into Juneau but it is so set up for the Cruise Ship folks, that it almost is a card board cut out of Ketchikan or any other cruise ship port in the north. Nice lunch stop at the "Hangar Pub". We missed Gayle and CJ's arrival because we were buying out Costco, but went down and picked them up for the trip up to Mendanhall Glacier and the coveted Safeway Liquor stop. Lots of catching up with news from home and mail.
Hope all of you Armchair Alaska Travellers are well and enjoying the site. Drop us some comments and or an email we would love to hear from you!
Sounds like you guys are having a great adventure. Aside from a little teak repair all seems well. The Argues are a little behind you - they are in Ketchican. I enjoy reading your blog.

Hey Betty, we are all really enjoying reading about your adventures - wish we were with you. Hope the birthdays went well, I look forward to hearing about them from Gail, Bean & Scott. Iron Bay is going great - tell Penny it looks beautiful, everyone has worked really hard to get that dock finished (almost done) and it is ready for the summer rush! Anyway, have a good time and keep Mike away from those grizzlies :-) Brenda & Gord
