Leaving Vancouver

With our chores behind us, and the wind at our backs, we departed Vancouver on Tuesday of this week and headed up to Jedidiah Island.  A favourite destination of ours and a place we haven't visited in quite sometime.  A beautiful, sunny, calm day for travelling, we arrived a little before 4:00 o'clock to our destination - Long Harbour.  We did not have set plans for this year so our path will be strictly on a daily basis - dependent on wind, weather and how we feel that day!
Jedidiah Island did not disappoint, after dropping the anchor, we went to shore with Ruby, our new addition from 2013 and after chasing goats up the mountain and trying to herd sheep in the field - we returned to the boat for dinner.  Sitting in the setting sun on our we reminisced about all the good times we had on this island and that perhaps before we leave in the morning, we could get a fresh haul of oysters to take with us.  During the evening, a Northwest wind came down the channel to where we were anchored and the only reason we even knew was that the slapping of the waves during the night had Ruby scampering up the bed to sleep between us.  Between the panting and the need to curl up between us by our heads, she kept us awake most of the night.  Oh, and did I mention the mosquitoes?  During the night, we did the turn on the light and the hoppy dance on the bed to find the annoying buzzing insect that would eventually find our blood to be a tasty meal.  Oh well, we're on vacation, we can always nap later in the day!
