Swanson is a split bay with a spit in the middle

Two state docks greet us at the end of the bay but they are called floating docks as there are no ramps to shore even though they are on pilings. One of the docks has our friend from way back in Cashman Bay, the Mary L (Dennis and Mary Lou) . We are first in and opt to go to the empty dock. This is our most difficult docking yet, the wind is howling and the current is flowing against us as we try and tie up, Its takes both of our muscle power to winch the boat into the dock. Even with the motor running in forward, its still a struggle to keep the boat at the dock. A quiet night here for our little herd to celebrate Canada Day! A great meal at Chez Marko’s and a few drinks with the tolly that comes in with people from Juneau and their friends from New York.
There were 5 cruiseships in the harbour of Juneau when we were on the HAL cruise and the same happend in the other ports on the coast.
ReplyDeleteIt really spoiled the whole trip.
We will never do that again.
Love and best wishes
