May 31 - June 1

A few hours across from Hakai is the Spider Group of Islands with some great anchoring bays. We have chosen a bay that is quite small called "Swordfish" Bay. It is a beautiful Sunny day and we drag Sambuca through the narrowest channel we have ever gone through. About 10 years ago, we came through this pass in our 34' boat along with a 47' Bayliner called Obsession. The tree that we had to saw off to get the Bayliner through is still there but out of the way. The channel is called Spitfire and for any of you boaters who have ever wondered how much of a "pucker factor" Skipper Wayne can take, we are pleased to announce he has hit the Pucker Factor of 10. We both made it through very slowly with no bumping or damage to the big boats. The photographs above show just how much error room we had (Shaman had less then Sambuca as she is 2 feet wider) The lowest water we encountered in the channel was 14 feet but the worry factor was the width! We had a wonderful steak and baked potato beach barbeque and if you can't read the sign that CJ is holding in the photograph it says "WISH YOU WERE HERE"
