Forgotton Moments
In my haste to keep up on the postings, I had forgotton all about our eventful meeting up with Oceanaire. I did not want this moment to be kept secret from our faithful viewers (especially the boating viewers).
We make jubilant communication via radio with our good friends Dave and Penny around 10:00 am just outside of Bella Bella. Dave is doing some work and is frantically trying to send emails to the office and has advised us to go ahead and that he would catch up. All fine and dandy until we get a call asking for my help in shrinking and sending his files. Dave hustles Oceanaire to meet up with us while we have email and Penny throws the little stick with the files into my waiting hands. everyone is all smiles with this wonderful re-unification of friends who have not seen each other for a while. Then the wind picks up gives Oceanaire a bit of a shove and they crash sideways into Shaman. I am madly trying to fend off 40,000 lbs with my puny little hands, and I look down horrified just when the boats have are smashing into each other (with a rather loud crack). Lots of pushing, shoving by Broken Rib Penny and myself and we managed to untangle the boats from each other. Dave's door latch leaves a nice scratch on our hull and the above photos is the broken pieces of teak from our side rails......Dave.....you should not let the Dog drive...He does not have his POC (Proficiency operators card) nor does he have the opposing digits to hang fenders when one wants to side tie in the open ocean!
Good thing it was a joyful reunion as there was remorse and no tempers from either side! Nothing that can't be fixed, but I bet that Scupper Dog sure got a talking to about how he drives the boat!

Hey Betty You should have stuck you foot out and kept the boats apart. Nancy and I are leaving BYC on June 15 so we shall see you guys at some point in some exotic locale.
ReplyDeleteSo what do you think of a new "Carved Whale" side rail?
