The Prep work begins - 6 week countdown

Sitting here on a very warm sunny day in Vancouver, I have decided it time to finish making the list of "Things to do". Firstly there is the communication.....since our previous trips have cost an arm and a leg on the internet/Cell phone side in roaming charges, we have downloaded and set up with Skype (internet phone service) - its a far cry paying $3.00 per month verus over $600 in roaming charges last trip. Couple that change with our internet plan that now allows us no "Roaming Charges", communication will be relatively painless to the wallet.
Sir Kobi - all shots need updating and he needs his updated paperwork to eventually cross the border into Alaska.
Food....hmmmmmmm where to start and what to bring. Other than a few essentials that we know we won't be able to purchase along the way, my canned food cupboard is fully stocked and ready, my freezer is almost empty and will be replenished with lots of the good stuff we like to eat while away. We will only be taking as much fresh produce as we can keep for a week at a time. Most places up and down the coast, we will be able to pick up that $5.00 head of lettuce and that $10.00 quart of milk. Bread and buns will have to be homemade but thats okay as I like to bake.
Bills.....although we could very easily leave those behind, they will all be coming to me online.....yuck I say.....even city taxes etc!
Clothing - one more stop at the condo in the next 6 weeks and we will pick up a few tote boxes of summer clothes in the event that it ever gets sunny again. We were very fortunate last trip to be able to go North and never get out of shorts, but we are not counting on that happening again. Lots of rain gear, sweatshirts and boots!
Boat parts.....we have almost every spare part imaginable, but we will need a case of spare filters, oil and all the do-ma-hickeys that make the boat and generator run. Thats a blue job so Mike can look after this part.
Electronics - batteries of all sizes and shapes will need to be on hand as well as ink cartridges for my printer and lots of paper and other fun stuff to keep me busy while in some of those rainy coves. You know how I love Crafts!!!
A stop at Value Village in the next few weeks to pick up a large back up books, although this will not be critical as I already have a well stocked library and most small marinas and stops up the coast will have a book trading area.
Insurance - have to make sure our boat insurance coverage covers us to Skagway and that we have some sort of medical coverage in Alaska while we are there.
Thats all I can think of for now.....will update my progress in a few weeks.
